Advancing Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in IBD Award
As the largest non-governmental funder of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) research in Canada, Crohn’s and Colitis Canada proudly recognizes the researchers whose work is transforming the future of Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. These awards honour exceptional leadership, innovation, and commitment to care across the Canadian IBD research community.

From seasoned investigators to emerging leaders, our award recipients drive discoveries that bring us closer to cures and improve the quality of life for people affected by Crohn’s or colitis.
We welcome nominations from colleagues across the research community, and self-nominations are also encouraged. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, so early submissions are recommended.
Please note that each award has its own eligibility, nomination, and selection criteria. Nominations must be submitted through the online application form along with all required materials by the stated deadline.
Research Leadership Award
This award recognizes an individual who whose leadership has significantly advanced IBD research in Canada and contributed meaningfully to Crohn’s and Colitis Canada’s Promise.
Crohn’s and Colitis Canada will not be running this competition in 2026.

Rising Star Award
The Rising Star Award celebrates an outstanding early-career investigator, within five years of their first faculty appointment, whose basic or clinical research is already shaping the future of IBD research. Extensions to the five-year window are available for parental, medical, or other approved leaves.
This year, the Rising Star recipient will receive $20,000 to support their research program.
Nominations for this award close on August 14, 2026, 5:00 pm ET.

Women in IBD Researcher Award
Presented in partnership with Pfizer Canada
This award recognizes an outstanding female researcher, whether in basic or clinical science, who has served as an inspiring leader and role model in the IBD research community. Nominations are evaluated by an independent panel of IBD experts, operating at an arm’s length from pharmaceutical partners. The recipient will be granted $20,000 in support of their research program.
Crohn’s and Colitis Canada will not be running this competition in 2026.

Advancing Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in IBD Award
Presented in partnership with Pfizer Canada
This award honours an individual whose clinical work or research advances Crohn’s and Colitis Canada’s Promise by addressing issues related to diversity, equity, and inclusion in IBD. Nominations are evaluated by an independent panel of IBD experts, operating at an arm’s length from pharmaceutical partners. The recipient will be granted $20,000 in support of their clinical or research program.
